The first day of school for all students will be Thursday, September 4th, 2014. All students must report to the school yard. If there is inclement weather, students will be diverted inside by our staff.

The two half days will be Tuesday, June 3rd and Monday June 9th. All students will arrive at their regularly scheduled times but dismissed at approximately 12 Noon. Students will not be in attendance on Thursday, June 5th as this is the Brooklyn Queens Anniversary date and the Chancellor's Conference Day. Classes will resume on Friday, June 6th.

>>ELA AND MATH PRACTICE EXAMS

In order to simulate the events of the actual upcoming state exam days, we are hosting two practice exams for all students taking the real Math and ELA state exams. The results will help target and facilitate instruction for your child's teacher leading up to the actual test days. The ELA practice test will be administered on Thursday, March 13, while the Math practice test will be administered on Wednesday, March 19. Since these practice tests simulate actual testing days, please have your child bring in two #2 pencils and get a good nights sleep. For more information please join us for our TEST PREP FAIR where you will get a chance to speak to one of our teachers regarding test prep, materials, the coverage of the exams, test taking strategies as well as tips for dealing with test anxiety on Saturday, March 15 at Noon following our Saturday School and Honor Roll Assembly.

The Saturday test prep program has started!!! Students with permission slips should report to Meyer Levin on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. All students will receive a session of Math and ELA. Metrocards will be provided upon arrival.

>>SPRING PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES

Please join us for our parent teacher conferences on Thursday, February 27. Report Cards for the 2nd Trimester will be distributed. The conferences will be held in two sessions. The afternoon session is from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and the evening session is from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

All students will be dismissed at approximately 12 Noon as it is a Half Day.

We hope this message finds you safe during this difficult time. The staff at Meyer Levin School for the Performing Arts is aware that many of you may be facing hardship and we are here as a community to help you in any way we can. As we attempt to rebuild our communities, we are making certain adjustments to our school schedule. The Uniform Assessments and Performance Based Tasks have been tentatively postponed until the week of November 12th. The end of the 1st Trimester has been postponed until November 15th.

As part of our ongoing efforts to support those affected by Hurricane Sandy, we are starting a collection at the Meyer Levin School for the Performing Arts building. Items that will be needed by those that have been displaced are: School supplies, Clothing, Diapers, Baby formula, Backpacks, Coats, Boxed and canned food, Boots and Bottled water. Any suggestions or ideas of how we can better assist our school community are welcome.

Students who registered to take the 2012-2013 SHSAT will report to their designated testing sites on either October 27th or 28th to take the exam.

Staying informed about your child's academic performance and behavior is key to making sure he/she is developing the skills he/she will need to be successful in college and careers. This comprehensive system and strategic action plan is particularly important for closing the achievement gap and one of the initial steps and foundation for the development of college ready students.
