Cell Phones & Electronic Devices | pdf

Safety and security of our students are our utmost concern.  It is for
this reason that we are urgently requesting that cell phones and
other electronic devices be left at home
.
They are a distraction
and pose safety hazard to our school community. The thefts of cell
phones and other electronic devices have become a citywide
epidemic. Students are being approached on their way home from
school in an attempt to steal these items, and in some cases
students have been assaulted. We are committed and determined
to ensure the safety and security of our students.

Chancellor’s Regulation A 412 Section V clearly prohibits any
electronic devices in school. In addition, it is a violation of Citywide
Standards of Discipline and Intervention Measures
(The Discipline Code) ---B05.

Our policy at Meyer Levin School for the Performing Arts –
I.S. 285
regarding all electronic devices is simple:

CELL PHONES AND ALL OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES
ARE NOT PERMITTED IN SCHOOL.

--- ALL cell phone, iPods or other electronic devices will be confiscated

--- Cell phones, iPods, and ALL other electronic devices will only
be returned to parents on the third TUESDAY of every month at our
PTA/PC workshop between the hours of 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. in
the school’s auditorium.

If an emergency occurs and you wish to contact your child, please
call the main office. Remind your children to leave their cell phones
and all other electronic devices at home.  Your cooperation and
support is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for helping us protect our students.
